For in vitro studies, intracellular calcium concentration of HUVECs was measured with Fluo 3-AM under confocal microscopy. Results show that compared with control mice, serum BUN, creatinine, TIM 1 and LCN2 levels were elevated in CA-AKI mice, but this effect was alleviated by ranolazine-pretreatment. Safe doses of ranolazine (less than 64 mg/kg) had no significant effect on overall blood pressure, but substantially improved renal perfusion, reduced contrast-induced microcirculation disturbance, improved renal capillary density and attenuated renal vascular permeability in ranolazine-pretreated CA-AKI mice. Mechanistically, ranolazine markedly down-regulated oxidative stress and apoptosis markers compared to CA-AKI mice. Intracellularly, ranolazine attenuated calcium overload in HUVECs. Heterogeneity (I2  96%) across studies was statistically significant. The ectoparasitic fauna was shared considerably by different urban rodent species and appeared to be more diverse in R. rattus and R. norvegicus. Moringa oleifera Lam. and Cymbopogon citratus (D.C) stapf were the most mentioned. Fifty-four phytochemicals from 13 species had DM activities. The techno-economic analysis reveals that the implementation of this circular economy strategy is unprofitable without subsidies. Nonetheless, the results are somehow encouraging as the subsides needed to reach profitability are lower than in other biogas upgrading and carbon dioxide utilization proposals. Indeed, for the best-case scenario, a feed-in tariff incentive of 4.3 €/MWh makes the approach profitable. When compared with the control treatment, ferrihydrite enrichment significantly enhanced nitrogenase (nifH) gene abundance by 8.05 × 105 to 4.45 × 106 copies g-1 soil during the 40-day flooding of HN soil, while nifH gene abundance in SC soil was remarkably increased by 5.90 × 107 to 9.56 × 107 copies g-1 soil during day 1 to 5 in response to ferrihydrite amendment. The relative abundance of N2-fixing bacteria peaked on day 5 (21.5% in HN soil and 5.4% in SC soil) and gradually decreased to a stable abundance after day 20. Remarkable increases in relative abundance of N2-fixing bacteria during the first 10 days of flooding were detected in both soils with ferrihydrite enrichment, whereas little difference was found after day 10 of flooding. During the early stage of flooding, the Shannon and Simpson indexes of N2-fixing bacteria with ferrihydrite enrichment were significantly decreased, and the community structure changed greatly. Most N2-fixing bacteria in ferrihydrite enriched paddy soils were phylogenetically related to the order Clostridiales, with some of those potentially capable of Fe(III) reduction. V.Monitoring freshwater and wetland systems and their response to stressors of natural or anthropogenic origin is critical for ecosystem conservation. A multi-temporal set of 87 images, acquired by Sentinel-2 satellites over three years (2016-2018), provided quantitative information for assessing the temporal evolution of key ecosystem variables in the perialpine Lake Mezzola (northern Italy), which has suffered from the impacts of a massive landslide that took place upstream of the lake basin in summer 2017. Sentinel-2 derived products revealed an increase in lake turbidity triggered by the landslide that amounted to twice the average values scored in the years preceding and following the event. Hotspots of turbidity within the lake were in particular highlighted. Moreover, both submerged and riparian vegetation showed harmful impacts due to sediment deposition. A partial loss of submerged macrophyte cover was found, with delayed growth and a possible community shift in favor of species adapted to inorganic substrates. Satellite-derived seasonal dynamics showed that exceptional sediment load can overwrite climatic factors in controlling phenology of riparian reed beds, resulting in two consecutive years with shorter than normal growing season and roughly 20% drop in productivity, according to spectral proxies. Compared to 2016, senescence came earlier by around 20 days on average in 2017 season, and green-up was delayed by up to 50 days (20 days, on average) in 2018, following the landslide. The approach presented could be easily implemented for continuous monitoring of similar ecosystems subject to external pressures with periods of high sediment loads. Constructed wetlands are effective at removing nitrate, one of the major pollutants in aquatic ecosystems. In this study, nitrogen and oxygen isotopes (δ15N and δ18O) were used to determine the sources and transformations of nitrate (NO3-), evaluate isotopic fractionation, and estimate nitrogen (N) removal in the Xixi Wetland, a large semi-constructed wetland in East China. Here, we build on this theory to hypothesise that a microbially-influenced mechanism could also contribute to the human biophilic drive – the tendency for humans to affiliate and connect with nature. Humans may be at an evolutionary advantage through health-regulating exchange of environmental microbiota, which in turn could influence our nature affinity. We present a conceptual model for microbially-influenced nature affinity, calling it the Lovebug Effect. We present an overview of the potential mechanistic pathways involved in the Lovebug Effect, and consider its dependence on the hologenome concept of evolution, direct behavioural manipulation, and host-microbiota associated phenotypes independent of these concepts.</p>

To report a rare case of Down&#39;s syndrome with congenital acute leukemia and congenital heart disease. We have retrospectively analyzed an electronic database of patients aged 0-17 years who underwent inpatient treatment of congenital heart disease at the Federal Center for Cardiovascular Surgery for the period from January 1, 2010 to December 31, 2018. Incidence of Down&#39;s syndrome in children with congenital heart defects was 5.36% of the total number of children with congenital heart defects. No gender differences were identified. The most common congenital heart defects were ventricular septal defect, atrioventricular septal defect, atrial septal defect, patent ductus arteriosus, tetralogy of Fallot. Down&#39;s syndrome and congenital heart disease were diagnosed prenatally in 33 out of 319 patients. A rare case of Down&#39;s syndrome combined with congenital heart disease and acute leukemia is described. Treatment outcome was unfavorable. Evere concomitant diseases in a child with Down&#39;s syndrome determine high postoperative morbidity and mortality. It was found that «closed» methods of surgical treatment of pilonidal disease are effective and accompanied by favorable wound healing and good cosmetic effect. Long-term outcomes of «closed» techniques significantly depend on the choice of surgical treatment and follow-up period.Perforation of the esophagus is a serious and dangerous condition due to progressive development of mediastinitis and sepsis. This disease is often fatal. In the last decade, endoscopic stenting of the esophagus became more common in these patients as an alternative to traditional surgery. We report successful minimally invasive endoscopic treatment of esophageal perforation with post-burn necrosis of its wall.Posthepatectomy liver failure is one of the most serious complications of large liver resections. The analyzes the management and results of treatment of patients with severe posthepatectomy liver failure (Grade C ISGLS) in a specialized hepatosurgical department. In the period from January to December 2019, 175 liver resections were performed in the Department of liver and pancreatic surgery at the A.S. Loginov Moscow Clinical Scientific Center. Major-volume liver resections (hemihepatectomies and resections of more than three liver segments) were performed in 80 (45%) patients. The main objectives of this study were to present a novel method for health risk assessment (HRA) and to demonstrate a multicriteria decision analysis (MCDA) based on this method to select the most suitable remediation alternatives of groundwater and to prioritize management of contaminated site. To demonstrate the HRA and MCDA processes, a typical contaminated site in Longtan, Jilin province, China, was used. The results of this research indicated that Benzene (PhH) and 1,2-Dichloroethylene (1,2-DCE) were the main organic pollutants and the vanillin plant in the north of the site was main pollution source. Pollution migrated from the north to the south and the health risk range in winter was significantly greater than in summer. Four remediation alternatives were proposed on the basis of the HRA results. The MCDA results showed that PRB was the most suitable technology for integrating the relevant environmental, social, economic, and technical aspects required for remediation. This study may help responsible agencies to strengthen local risk-based program screening frameworks for contaminated sites, to promote reconstruction projects, and to increase local public confidence of contaminated sites remediation.Depression comorbid with eating disorders is common and can worsen the severity of both disorders. Little is published regarding depression and eating disorders in male adolescents. This retrospective observational study compared eating disorder presentation and depression comorbidity between medically-hospitalized male and female adolescents. Standardized chart abstraction was performed for 148 subjects (n=127 females, =21 males). Male adolescents had significantly greater pre-hospitalization weight loss and longer eating disorder duration, and were 1.6 times more likely to have comorbid depression compared to female patients. These findings suggest increased detection and treatment of both disorders in adolescent males is warranted.Nonsuicidal self-injury (NSSI) disorder represents an opportunity to address the significant costs associated with NSSI; however, there is a need to resolve the uncertainty regarding specific parameters of the diagnostic criteria to ensure clinical utility. As such, to better understand the clinical applicability, and guide future research in this area, clinicians and researchers in the field of NSSI (n=112) completed an anonymous online survey assessing their opinions regarding several aspects of NSSI disorder. Results highlight that past-month NSSI was the most frequently endorsed timeframe required for a NSSI disorder diagnosis. There was support for the clinical usefulness of several specifiers and general consensus regarding exclusion criterion. Finally, Disruptive, Impulse-Control and Conduct Disorders was considered to be the most appropriate diagnostic category. Our findings suggest that requiring four days of NSSI in the past one-month may enhance the clinical utility of NSSI disorder. Results also offer guidance on additional aspects of the diagnostic criteria to better describe and conceptualize NSSI disorder for research and clinical applications.Cohort study. These can have a major impact on both victims and patients themselves. This study explored personal, situational and institutional risk factors and their combined effects, which could lead to repetitive VB (three or more assaults). Data from 4518 patients, aged 18 to 65, admitted to an acute psychiatric care facility, were included in the analysis. VB, defined as physical aggressions against another person, were assessed by the Staff Observation Aggression Scale-Revised. 414 VB were reported during the study period, involving 199 patients. 0.75 % of all patients were repetitively violent and committed 43% of all VB. Factors that were linked to repetitive VB were living in sheltered housing before hospitalization, suffering from schizophrenia with substance abuse comorbidity, cumulating hospitalization days and some situational factors, like the fact of being in nursing offices and pharmacies. When all personal, situational and institutional factors were considered together, the combined effects of length of stay and living in sheltered housing increased the risk of repetitive VB.]]&gt;</description>
